History

Potato paprikash is a Hungarian one-pot dish, the main ingredients of which are potatoes, ground red pepper, sausage or hot dogs, and red onion. It can also be prepared on the stove or in a pot. It is one of the most popular dishes of the country, cheap, quick and delicious. You will often find in the rural areas and family cooking but rarely in restaurants. In old times families often made this this because the main ingredients could be found in their pantry all the time.

Ingredients

  • 2 onions
  • 1 tbs of lard
  • 20 dkg of sausage
  • 2 tbs of red peppers
  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • salt

Instructions

  • To prepare traditional paprika potatoes, clean the onions and cut them into small cubes.
  • Heat a little lardl in a fireproof bowl, add the chopped onion and fry until glassy, ​​then add the ringed sausage and fry.
  • Remove the pan from the stove, sprinkle the fried onions and sausages with the red pepper.
  • Then add the thoroughly washed, cleaned and diced potatoes.
  • Pour enough water to almost cover it. Add salt and cook until the potatoes are soft.
  • Serve with fresh bread and pickles.

Renewal

Vegetarian version: Instead of lard you can use cooking oil and you can replace sausage with vegetarian grain sausage. Just as delicious as with meat.
